Following three days of judging over 1,300 wines, the gold medals have been awarded in this year’s Air New Zealand Wine Awards, with Nelson producers Seifried Estate and Falcon Ridge Estate earning a gold medal each for Aotea by the Seifried Family Méthode Traditionnelle Nelson NV and Falcon Ridge Estate Syrah Nelson 2016 respectively.

Another successful haul of medals at this years Air New Zealand Wine Awards, where 1,392 wines were entered. 6.5 percent of entries were awarded Gold Medals and 70% of all entries received awards.
Not only did Nelson play host to the gala dinner for the largest premier wine competition in New Zealand, the Air New Zealand Wine Awards, it also took out three of the eighteen trophies awarded at the dinner.
The Air New Zealand Wine Awards is the premier wine competition in New Zealand. This year, following 1,407 wines entered, judges awarded 84 gold medals to wines from around the country with four gold medals awarded to Nelson wines.
In 2015 Wine Nelson is proud to be the host region for the Air New Zealand Wine Awards gala dinner. Global Marketing Director for New Zealand Winegrowers, Chris Yorke, says the Air New Zealand Wine Awards dinner is a big night for New Zealand’s wine industry. "Nelson has a great reputation for producing world-class wines which makes it a fitting location for this year’s awards dinner.”
Nelson wines have been judged some of this country’s best in the prestigious Air New Zealand Wine Awards. More than a dozen Pure Gold and Pure Silver medals came to the region, as well as a number of Pure Bronze awards.
