Friday 5 May is International Sauvignon Blanc Day, New Zealand's most widely planted varietal. 

Sauvignon Blanc makes up at least 80% of the $1.6 billion of wine exports from New Zealand annually and Nelson has the third largest plantings in New Zealand, behind Marlborough and Hawke's Bay.

Local restaurant Harbour Light Bistro is joining in the celebrations with their special 3 course set menu, pairing a Sauvignon Blanc with each course. 

Starting with Warm Goat cheese, feijoa chutney and grilled ciabatta, beautifully paired with local wine, Kina Beach Sauvignon Blanc (100 ml pour).

For main, enjoy pan-fried snapper, roast Jerusalem artichoke puree, agria potatoes, wilted spinach & white miso sauce, paired with local wine, Brightwater Lord Rutherford Barrique Sauvignon Blanc (100 ml pour).

And complete the meal with a dessert of white chocolate mousse, sesame wafer and poached red fruit paired with Marlborough wine Spy Valley Iced Sauvignon Blanc (90 ml pour).
